Because of its molasses content, brown sugar does contain certain minerals, most notably calcium, potassium, iron and magnesium, white sugar contains none of these. white sugar is bleached with may chemicals but brown sugar is prepared as a cottage product in the villages. it is more unrefined cane sugar.
